Dorchester County, SC – This week the Larry and Rebecca Collett Foundation officially announced plans
to donate $37,500 to the Dorchester School District 2 Educational Foundation scholarship fund.
The Joseph R. Pye Legacy Scholarship was created to ensure Mr. Pye’s legacy of meaningful educational
impacts lasts for future generations. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a DDTwo graduate
pursuing a career in education.

“Preparing children for a world none of us can possibly predict requires a very special person. That is a
teacher,” Larry Collett said. “An investment in the Joseph R. Pye Legacy Scholarship is an investment in
our future teachers and our young learners which are at the very core of our mission.”
The donation will be contributed over the next ten years.

“Partners like the Larry and Rebecca Collett Foundation ensure our students have sustainable supports
to impact tomorrow,” Ralph Hayes, DDTwo Education Foundation Executive Director, said. “I am
confident that due to their generosity children entering kindergarten today will still have this scholarship
opportunity when they graduate.”
